HON. JERRY SILAA, LAUNCHES "SITAPELIKI" CAMPAIGN TO EDUCATE CITIZENS ON HOW TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM ONLINE FRAUD

Hon. Jerry Silaa, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has launched a special campaign called "SITAPELIKI," aimed at educating citizens on how to protect themselves from online fraud. The campaign was launched in Arusha during a working session for government officials and stakeholders in the communications and information technology sector, focusing on the implementation of the National Digital Economy Strategy for 2024-2025.

Minister Silaa emphasized the importance of educating Tanzanians on the services offered by all communication service providers, who will use the number 100 to provide their services.

He also highlighted the achievements of the Ministry, including the completion of the national backbone fiber optic network in 109 out of 139 districts across the country, equating to 78%.

On the other hand, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Works, Communications, and Transport in Zanzibar, Ms. Hawa Ibrahim, thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for enabling Tanzania to have a digital economy. She also pointed out that they have received significant support in the communications sector, including a project to build an innovation center that will help integrate young people into the digital world.
