The Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene, has called on the e-Government Authority (e-GA) to continue conducting research and innovations to improve ICT systems, enhance service delivery, and eliminate barriers to accessing government services.

Simbachawene made these remarks while closing the 5th e-Government Working Session, which took place over three days at the AICC Hall in Arusha. The event was attended by approximately 1,500 stakeholders, including accounting officers, directors, ICT heads, ICT officers, and other system users from various institutions, local authorities, and public organizations.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening and expanding the use of ICT to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements, as most economic activities worldwide now rely on digital systems.

“The government has prioritized ICT adoption, particularly in research and innovation, to strengthen cybersecurity and increase internet accessibility,” Simbachawene stated.

He added that the government, through e-GA, is focused on expanding access to digital public services and improving nationwide telecommunications infrastructure to ensure citizens can access services efficiently and affordably through digital platforms.

Simbachawene urged public institutions to act swiftly in leveraging the growing digital landscape to enhance service delivery through mobile platforms.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary at the President’s Office, State House, Mulula Mahendeka, highlighted the significance of such working sessions in advancing e-Government initiatives. He noted that valuable ideas shared by participants contribute to the development of digital governance.

The ministry will ensure that all resolutions from this session are implemented promptly, whether by the ministry itself, e-GA, or other relevant public institutions,” Mahendeka affirmed.

e-GA Director General, Benedict Ndomba, expressed gratitude to all participants for their attentiveness and engagement, which contributed to productive discussions.

“The insights shared will drive progress in e-Government initiatives, and e-GA will actively work on all recommendations to ensure more effective digital governance,” said Ndomba.

He further emphasized that collaborative efforts in implementing e-Government strategies will enhance efficiency in service delivery, making digital public services more accessible, faster, and cost-effective for Tanzanians.
