The Tanzanian delegation set to participate in the Sixth Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) Meeting between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Malawi has been urged to use the platform to identify and enhance key areas of cooperation that will benefit both nations.
This call was made by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, upon his arrival in Lilongwe, Malawi, where he addressed the Tanzanian delegation in a meeting held at the residence of Tanzania’s Ambassador to Malawi.
In his remarks, Ambassador Mussa emphasized that the meeting presents a crucial opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations for mutual political, economic, and social benefits.
He urged the Tanzanian delegation to be proactive in presenting proposals that will advance Tanzania’s interests.
"It is essential for each of us to understand the objectives of this mission and to take a leading role in advocating for our country’s priorities, particularly in trade, infrastructure, peace and security, agriculture, industry, energy, and gas. We must ensure that these issues are well addressed," said Ambassador Mussa.
Furthermore, he explained that the meeting will provide both nations with an opportunity to review previous agreements, assess their implementation, and establish new strategies for cooperation. Special focus will be placed on key sectors, including diplomacy, politics, economy, infrastructure, communication, social and humanitarian affairs, defense and security, and regional challenges.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), is scheduled to visit Malawi starting February 25, 2025, where he will participate in the ministerial session of the Sixth JPCC Meeting between Tanzania and Malawi, set for February 26, 2025. The meeting will be preceded by senior officials' sessions on February 24 and 25, 2025.
